Stan Taylor was a fireman aboard the Aurora in 1912 on its voyage to Antarctica to collect Douglas Mawson and the men of the Australian Antarctic Expedition. He was not supposed to keep a diary or take photographs, as the expedition's activities were deeemed to be the exclusive preserve of the Secretary of the Expedition and the Official Photographer. However, he did both.
