Apparently two copies of this 48 page brochure exist in the BNF. These are the only ones we have been able to locate - so, VERY RARE! This is an argument in favour of a drastic (two-thirds) reduction to leave only the light brigades, still in 1869 potentially useful on the battlefield.This booklet was purchased by Louis Tronchin, a Colonel in the Swiss Federal Army. His handwritten autograph appears at the top of cover: "M. Louis Tronchin Col. Féd. à Lavigny".Excellent condition despite light foxing throughout.Price negociable. Postage free worldwide.

Curiously the title of this book STORY OF A PENNY on spine and page one of the cover and below the coloured frontispiece, becomes THE ADVENTURES OF A PENNY in this "New Edition".of Routledge's One-Shilling Juveniles.This book is in very good condition for its years.The first signature is getting a little loose and there is slight foxing on the illustrated page and the titlepage.147 pages in post 8vo. with an additional 6 pages of Routledge's catalogue of Juvenile books. It is slightly bumped and a light-hearted moral tale.
I have failed to discover anything more about Mrs. Perring other than that she appears to be a fairly prolific author of similar moralistic tales for the very young. Maybe this is a pen name - maybe not.

Lettre de rupture ou plutôt de congé. A quoi elle répond ici au nom de cette Vie qu'elle risque de n'avoir plus longtemps à vivre mais qu'elle persiste à vouloir exempte de toute tiédeur de tout compromis. Un cri pur sur le mode intraitable et la revendication blessée mais sûre de... soi d'un amour de haute exigence qui revendique à la fois le partage total et la lucidité. Le livre de Marcelle Sauvageot (1900-1934) publié peu de mois avant sa mort (d'abord sous le titre de Commentaire) longtemps introuvable malgré quelques brèves reprises en librairie fut salué en son temps par les plus grands.

Extremely rare first edition in exceptional near fine condition in elegant contemporary (circa 1850) private binding. The author of this first comprehensive treatise on administration was a prominent French lawyer and politician of the mid-19th Century. A member of the Chambre des Députés, his book is based on a two-part article he contributed to the Revue des Deux Mondes 1841. It appears that most copies of this first edition were destroyed by fire. A second, enlarged edition appeared in 1852 in 2 vols.
