Bound in the publisher's red cloth with gilt lettering to the spines, gilt ruled border to the front boards, top edges gilt. Bindings good and strong with a little rubbing and fading to the spines, cloth slightly marked. Contents very good, plates clean to all volumes, some foxing/browning to page edges in vol. IV, otherwise minimal spotting in other volumes. The hinges and joints are all strong. Provenance: Signed "Evelyn T. Parker, March 1915" to the front end paper of volume one; heraldic bookplates of Evelyn Stuart Parker and David Farquharson Parker [ship owners and sugar traders] to the front paste-downs and front free endpapers of each volume.
