Small closed tear to title page of the plate descriptions, else a very Near Fine set, completely unworn, unfaded and apparently unread; in the original cloth slipcase, which is clean and sound; all housed in the original cardboard shipping box with printed title label. Uncommon thus.

Gift inscription from an N.L. Thacker on verso of title page, dated 1914; child's ownership inscription on verso of final plate ("Ermy Tharp, Novato, Cal" dated 1936). Rubbing and wear to board edges; internally clean and sound - a Very Good copy, with all plates present. An attractive Meiji Era souvenir album with subtly hand-tinted collotype plates depicting a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony. One of several editions produced between 1906 and 1920; per the excellent bibliography of Tamamura's souvenir albums at , ours would appear to be the Third Edition of 1910.

Baron Albert d'Anethan (d.1910) was the Belgian Minister Plenipotentiary to Japan from 1894 until shortly before his death in July, 1910, a period encompassing both the first Sino-Japanese War and the Russo-Japanese War. Baroness d'Anethan (born Eleanora Haggard) was a sister of H. Rider Haggard.

Katsu Yoshida, described within as "Japan's Top Illustrator", named the English version of his art book High Coup, as a pun on the word "Haiku". While Yoshida is also known for his landscapes, this book is primarily a showcase for his highly expressive celebrity art, many of it featured in the pages of Rolling Stone and and Playboy magazines. He has also designed magazine and album covers, concert posters, and more. Includes information about the artist and his work, translated into English.
