Through working with the women in the local, she saw the need for a comprehensive and readable book that addressed all of the complex forms of sex discrimination at the job. The OCAW agreed, and asked her to write this Handbook for OCAW Women.

"[T]his book answer the Mexican Government's assertion that it had legal justification for the recent seizure of foreign-owned oil properties" (from upper jacket flap). McMahon was, until 1938, head of the legal staff in Mexico of the Standard Oil Company.
