Regimental history of the the Falangist 62nd Division in the Spanish Civil War, by its commander Antonio Sagardía Ramos, known as "The Butcher of Pallars" for his troops' massacre of Republican forces at Pallars Sobira in the northeastern region of Catalonia in 1937. Nine inserted leaves of plates; seventeen maps (many folding) and one color plate; text illustrations throughout.

San Francisco: The Spanish Relief Committee, 1937. Slim octavo (22.5cm); beige stapled wraps, with titles printed in black and red on front cover; 15pp. Previous owners name (in ink) to upper left edge of front cover, with toning to text edges; Very Good+. The second pamphlet issued by the Spanish Relief Committee of San Francisco, discussing religious persecution and the "legality" of the Spanish government. The main goal of the SRC was to collect funds and donations to distribute for reconstruction purposes.

Valencia: S.i., 1937. Six tabloid issues (58cm); newsprint wrappers; 4pp per issue; occasional illus; text entirely in Spanish. Publication sequence as follows: Año XLIV, Nos.15.394, 15.409, 15.411, 15.413, 15.424, 15.435 (October 8,27,29,31; November 13,26 1937). All six issues horizontally folded at center, occasional creasing to extremities, with a few scattered passages underlined in red and blue colored pencil; one with mild toning along folds, else paper is still supple and quite fresh; Very Good+ overall. Nicely-preserved selection of issues of this Republican daily newspaper, the official organ of the Partido Sindicalista, one of the smaller Spanish left-wing workers' parties that would eventually become affiliated with the United Front. Jacket spine crown a bit worn, else Near Fine. Memoirs of the Spanish Civil War by Basque Communist activist, politician, and celebrated public speaker. Exiled at the end of the War, Ibarruri was appointed General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Spain, a position which she held from 1942 to 1960. This edition published in Moscow, though the text is entirely in the original Spanish.

Spiral-bound pictorial boards; title page and 31 leaves of machine-lithographed plates after watercolors by the artist. Descriptive text printed in three languages (Spanish, French, and English). Light rubbing to boards and board edges; with two spots of abrasion to front board; mild toning to plate margins; Very Good or better. An attractive example of this attractive album of Spanish Civil War drawings, issued in 1937 to raise funds for the Republican cause.

Three of the plays collected here were previously collected in Plays From Lorca's Theatre (1941); the translations were updated for this edition, and two previously untranslated plays - "The Butterfly's Evil Spell" and "The Billy-Club Puppets" added.

Substantial run of this Spanish Civil War newspaper, the official organ of the anarcho-syndicalist group Confederación Nacional del Trabajo. Published in Valencia between 1936-1939, the paper provided daily coverage of the Republican struggle, with articles by Jesus Muro, Felix Paredes, Enrique Lopez Alarcon, Gaston Leval, and Juan Lopez, et al. Illustrated with political cartoons and caricatures throughout. Large runs extremely uncommon in the trade; OCLC shows just 5 American institutions holding any issues.
