Description:
Girard, KS: Appeal to Reason, n.y.. Paperback. 16mo. Stiff red wrappers. 80pp. Very good. Faintest of wear to outer wrappers (only). A tight and quite nice little oddball edition of this 1863 folksy humor classic by one of Lincoln's favorite humorists. "Modern Series No. 2," this scarce edition was published by the popular socialist newspaper that ran from 1895 until 1917, when Emanuel Haldeman-Julius (of "Little Blue Book" fame) purchased it and changed the name to "New Appeal," operating until 1922, when it became the "Haldeman-Julius Weekly" -- thus dating this undated pamphlet to sometime in the teens. Very uncommon thus.
