New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1926. First Edition . Green Cloth. Very Good/Good Plus. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Contains 259 pp., 17 b&w illustrations, small few very small holes in front joint, dust jacket is chipped at edges and missing about 3/4" at the top of spine (affecting "The" and "Fi" in Fifth). A fairly obscure title and unusual to find with a dust jacket. Jerome D. Travers, an amateur from the Upper Montclair (N.J.) Country Club, followed in the footsteps of the legendary Francis Ouimet. Travers, already having won the amateur four times by 1913, achieved his long-term ambition in the U.S. Open by playing the last six holes in one under par to beat Tom McNamara by a stroke and capture the 1915 National Championship held at the Baltusrol (N.J.) This is a Review Copy and unnumbered from an edition of 950 numbered copies; bound in brown cloth with gilt-stamped birds and lettering, contains 83 b&w photographs of birds and water fowl in action, dust jacket is somewhat darkened and chipped at the top of spine (about 1" x 1") and along the edges; signed in pencil on fron panel of dust jacket by Gordon Aymar, an illustrator and member of the Art Director's Club Hall of Fame; he made a notation on the inside front panel of the dust jacket of two camera settings though their importance is not apparent.
