The pages are slightly yellowed due to the acid content of the stock, otherwise clean, tight, and square. All tips are sharp. No apparent reading wear and no previous ownership markings. The dustjacket, glossy in a mylar sleeve, is very mildly rubbed; the original price (17.95) is intact. An excellent, collector's-quality copy of this early Willis title.

"...The world, as we know it, has changed. A civil war is raging, between the eastern half of North America and the west. The latest methods of destruction are frightening, brutal, inescapable. Description:
New York: Harper & Brothers, 1897. Very Good in the publisher's tan boards. Both the spine and the decorative, floral front board are stamped in gilt and light blue. Top edge gilt. 409pps., plus nearly fifty pages of illustrations and a frontispiece of the author. This edition is limited to 500 copies, of which this example -- likely being of the publisher's overrun -- is unnumbered. Modest rubbing and bumping to the tips and the board-edges. Faint, light soiling. Both hinges are cracked (webbing revealed), though the binding is still square and sound. Also, there is the sporadic fox-mark -- principally in the area of the endpapers; the pages are, nonetheless, exceptionally clean and bright overall. No previous ownership markings. A nice copy of this uncommon limited edition by the grandfather of Daphne Du Maurier. Purchase with confidence: all books, gradings, and descriptions are rendered the care of a genuine bibliophile. Satisfaction guaranteed or all costs you've incurred will be… Read More
