From the once-legendary Deansgate branch of UK, High-Street booksellers, Waterstone's. Still in the original Deansgate packaging and therefore has not been exposed to the elements since the day the author signed the book. Deansgate was at one time the best source of quality signed first editions in the UK, with an international roster of top author-signing events and unrivalled stock of new signed books. It is rare nowadays to come across the unbroken Deansgate seal and this copy will surely appeal to the sentiments of many a collector!

Corners bumped a little and the block is not so much "toned" as "Browned", however - the publishers having chosen the very cheapest paper-stock available for this edition, it would seem. Upper corners of the dustjacket split and other scrapes of the laminate at the edges. Nicely signed at the title page by the author.

Each of the books are unread copies in As New condition, each copy has been signed by Eoin Colfer at the title page and each copy includes associated ephemera - the crack-the-code leaflet in vol 1, bookhanger and traditional bookmark (also signed) in vol 2, bookmark and very scarce Ottakars competition leaflet in vol 3. Text-blocks are each lightly toned or tanned as usual with these titles but each book is in collector grade condition.

And in an unusual collaboration across artisitic boundaries Alasdair Gray has produced 8 poems written from August 2-5, 1998 on eight series of prints by the artist. A wonderful book and this copy is one of an unspecified but limited number signed in pencil by both the artist and the poet, at the front endpaper. Book and dustjacket both in superb condition, presents as a like-new copy.

In 2005 Philip Pullman was awarded the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, an annual prize issued by the Swedish Government for achievements in the field of Children's literature. The Japanese illustrator Ryoji Arai was also so honoured that year and to mark the occasion of the prize-giving ceremony this A-4 sized souvenir booklet was published. Printed in English and Swedish, unpaginated, (14 pages of text including the inside of the covers) with a few critical notes and select bibliographies of both. A nice item and this copy was signed for the seller at the actual event in Gothenburg. As New condition.

Exceedingly scarce, I do not recall one of these signed copies being offered for sale previously. 1/4 cloth. pp. 149, illustrated. Lower corners bumped but otherwise a Fine copy indeed.
