Two 1901 Inscribed Cabinet Card Photographs.

By Marlowe, Julia (born Sarah Frances Frost) 1865-1950.

According to Tracee Hamilton, they are larger versions of the carte-de-visite which had to be mounted on thick card stock to prevent curling. Rounded corner cabinet cards were made in 1870's-1900. Those with square corners date from 1900-1906, after which they were rarely found at all. Inscribed by "To my dear Mabel Jones with affectionate regard, Julia Marlowe 1901" and "In remembrance of Julia Marlowe to Isabel Jones 1901". 14,5x10,5cm. Very Good. Marlowe was an English-born American actress and suffragist, known for her interpretations of William Shakespeare. Mabel Jones (1865 -1923) was a British physician and a sympathizer to the Women's Social and Political Union. Beatrice Isabel Jones 1866-1921 was a British military nurse who served in the Boer War until 11/1900 when she returned to the UK..
