Edgewear with corners and joints rubbed, darkened spine with extra leather spine titles missing (with clear stamping remaining); internally very good with foxed spots on 31 pages. [viii] and no date on the title page making this the one that got away in spite of the elaborate erasing of the 1889 to put the 1892 in? From the library of Micajah Pratt Clough (1848-1933) with bookplate (Brainerd 66, 1896: 1.75 by 3.25-inches) designed by Edwin Davis French (1851-1906) affixed to front pastedown. [Clough was a shoe manufacturer on Broad Street in Lynn Massachusetts and member of the Lynn Historical Society. This was one of the two bookplates commissioned from French, the other was Brainerd 51 the year before].
