Light foxing, mainly in outer margins, one small spot in image, a few 1/4 inch tears to outer edges (not affecting image), soft creases to paper. Overall very good condition. Image of an imposing sepulchre on the Via Flaminia, 5 miles from Rome, with a charming view of Rome in the right distance. This impressive engraving by Luigi Rossini (1790-1857) is from the Le Antichita Romane series, depicting the antiquities of Rome and environs. Carrying on the tradition of Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778) and himself an architect, Rossini's prints celebrated the Classical Tradition and appealed to the well-to-do tourists on the Grand Tour and to architects and designers.
