London.: R. Sayer & J. Bennett.. 10 June 1775.. Copperplate engraving with outline handcolor on two conjoined sheets of thick laid paper. 21 3/4 17 x 43 1/2 inches (neatline), folded as issued. Band of light soiling at the left edge of the sheet, tear entering 2 inches into map image at upper left edge (with light discoloration to verso from tape residue, not visible on map), short separations in margins along a couple of folds, several other short edge tears, scattered light foxing. This comprises sheets V and VI of the large chart of the Americas by John Green the pseudonym of Braddock Mead, and covers the area from New Zealand and the Queen Charlottes Isles to Tierra Del Fuego and the east coast of Brazil. There is great detail regarding the routes of explorers and their observations. Many bays and capes named in New Zealand as well as a "Mount Camet," and great detail along the southern coast of south America. "Is. of Ice seen by Frezier in 1712" is noted in two places off Cape Horn at approximately 58 degrees south latitude. .

This map of the Pacific Rim region is a fun piece of cartographic ephemera. It depicts a huge lemon with the distribution routes marked from Hawaii to ports in the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, China, Russia and Japan. Fruit crate labels were designed specifically to attract the attention of the potential customer, and are notable for their great graphics. .

A few light spots to outer edges; plates are bright with good margins. Three prints of Tasmania from An Account of A Voyage in Search of La Perouse, translated from the French of M. Labillardiere; B. Uphill, London, 1802. This edition, published two years after the Stockdale translation, was issued in two volumes and featured 43 engravings and one chart. The three prints, each with Piron identified as delineator, are Manner of Fishing of the Savages of Cape Diemen, Savages of Cape Diemen Preparing Their Meal, and a sheet with three images: A Double Canoe of New Caledonia, La Catarmaran of Cape Diemen, and A Canoe of Santa Cruz or Egmont Island. .

An engaging book of Queensland views depicting major cities, agriculture, ranching, seaside recreation, mountain ranges etc. The booklet seeks to combine picturesque country and seaside views with up-to-date cityscapes to suggest the best of all possible worlds; however, a 1950s pall hovers over the project. .

Color maps, black and white wood engraved plates and in-text illustrations, approximately 300pp each, index, 10½ x 8 inches, gilt lettered goldenrod cloth covered boards with embossed red and green flower garland (hardbound). Ex-library with institution's stamped ID on inside of front cover and on the title pages of Volumes I, II, III; faint catalogue notation on spine of all four volumes. Covers lightly worn with some foxing to fore-edge, endpapers, and a few additional pages; small drip to top of front cover of volume IV and small soiled spot to back cover of volume I, still a handsome set with particularly bright decorative binding. The chief focus of these lavishly illustrated volumes is on Australia and New Zealand but New Guinea and Fiji are also covered, with essays pertaining to the history, geography, industry, scenic features and urban centers of the above locals prepared by an extensive list of contributors. Volume I features maps of Australia, New Zealand, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia following the index. Despite the library markings, these are unusually attractive volumes with bright and clean attractive decorative binding, certain to be of interest to collectors, and a set that would display well. .

Western Australia shows southwest area of current state, from just north of Perth to Albany with not a great deal of information between the two - it is "from recent Surveys sent to the Colonial Office". The whole of Tasmania is shown including Bass Strait with "Wilson Promontory" named on the Australian mainland. The southwest and northeast portions of Tasmania are unmapped. .

Abrasions and coin-size area of paper loss on the rear panel, evidently occasioned by the booklet's removal from a tourist's scrapbook. Otherwise, very good, clean condition The Introduction to the publication states: "This Guide has been published as a result of a constant demand for a concise directory of accommodation available in the principal towns and holiday centres of the State." There follows a general introduction to Western Australia, detailing the population explosion with the discovery of gold in 1885 and, next, a 29 page alphabetical "Accommodation Directory" beginning with "Abrolhos Islands" and ending with "Yunderup." A most interesting compendium of holiday destinations, some of which may strike the reader as well beyond grim. WorldCat lists four libraries holding the item. .

The heavily illustrated booklet provides detailed information regarding the history of the bridge as a visionary endeavor as well as the engineering challenges involved in its construction. Numerous photographs, line drawings and several bird's-eye views place the bridge in the context of Sydney and the northern suburbs. An uncommon booklet in overall good condition. .

The heavily illustrated booklet aims at presenting to the public the "Vacational, Commercial, Social, and Political" aspects of the capital city. Attractive photographs dominate the presentation, while the last three pages present General Information and Statistics pertaining to the city, including Goods Exported From the Port of Brisbane During the Year Ending June 1946. These include meats, wool, butter, cheese, raw sugar. The last page provides a listing of various industries and the number of factories in Brisbane associated with each. The booklet's aim is evidently attracting more business, industry, educational and commercial endeavors to Queensland and the capital city. The Interpretation of the Arms of the City published at the front of the book translates the city's Latin motto as "We Aim At Higher Things." A fascinating post-war record of the city as it sets itself on a determined pathway to economic growth. Soft vertical fold and inks stamp on front cover "“Compliments of..."; otherwise, very good condition. .
