In Western Canada, fertile farm can be had from $15.00 to $20.00 per acre. The booklet provides chapters on Alberta, Saskatchewan, North and South Manitoba, and British Columbia. Folding maps, 44 x 16 inches, support descriptive text of the first three territories, while the British Columbia chapter is supported by a 16 x 11 inch folding map. The booklet touts "Education Free, Universal and Compulsory" populated by "Good Neighbors and Good Citizens," a land in which "Millions of Acres Await New Settlers." Paper loss to bottom free edge of rear cover and booklet’s last page (no loss of text). Overall good clean conditon. An uncommon publication promoting the fertile lands and fast growing cities of Western Canada. .

Text block provides an "Explanation of Terms" (six geological terms listed) prefaced by text stating: "Sources of data include: Topographic and geologic maps, aerial photographs, and information from United States and Canadian government agencies and individual experts." Inset map in upper right corner depicts circular globe 7 1/8 inches wide locating Canada (in black) adjacent to the centrally-positioned Polar Pack and Greenland with the U.S. and U.S.S.R. oppositionally situated relative to the Canadian land mass. Map in very good condition save for a thin abrasion, 2 3/4 inch in length, chiefly in the right margin, penetrating the map 3/4 of an inch. An uncommon first edition map not available on the Erwin Raisz website. .

Excellent documentation of the province at the end of the 19th century with many interesting photo illustrations of towns, agriculture etc. This is a particularly attractive copy in the original wrappers. .

June, 1887 issue of this magazine, 416-492pp, eight double-sided pages of lithographic illustrations (for a total of 16 images), magazine size 10 x 6 7/8 inches, MISSING PAPER WRAPPERS. Light soiling to front and back pages (the first page being an advertisement and the last page being an image of the Bank of British Columbia), crease to top outer edge corner of several sheets but well outside of the image, interior overall in very good condition. A most interesting overview of British Columbia with sections: "British Columbia by Rail and Water," "Climate and Topography of British Columbia," "Cities of British Columbia," "Marine Resources," "Agriculture in British Columbia" etc. The black and white lithographs include many relating to the railroads servicing the area. .

This attractive booklet features images of New Westminster before the great fire on September 10, 1898, and the day after, plus views of various buildings and bridges, markets, salmon fishing on the Fraser River, etc. .

A few edge tears, two longer tears at left edge one of which just enters image, 1/2 inch paper loss to left upper edge, 1 inch paper loss to upper right corner, faint damp stains to mid upper edge and upper right corner (not noticeable in image and not as pronounced as they appear in the digital image), a couple of additional vertical folds, otherwise a clean bright image which would display nicely. This attractive print from a drawing by R. P. Leitch, printed by Leighton Bros., features three hunters at rest watching a horse-drawn sleigh pass through a snow covered landscape with the city of Quebec visible in the distance. .

Moresby Passage chart has large stained area in upper right quarter, verso very soiled, Turn Pt. chart has crease across top left corner and otherwise soft overall creasing, color pencil marks to a few places and light occasional soiling. Charts mark depths in fathoms and various natural and man-made features of the coastal area. Islands include Saltspring Island, Galliano Island, Mayne Island, North and South Pender Island, part of Saturna Island. The Turn Point chart is an Emergency Reproduction of Canadian Chart published 1942 and marked Restricted. It covers the islands above and a greater area, including part of the Canadian coast (including Blaine) and a small portion of Orcas Island. .
