Steel engraved pictorial map with vignette illustrations, sheet size approximately 84 x 11 ¾ inches, multiple folding to 11 3/4 x 6 3/4 inches as issued. Pinholes at corners and at a few folds at edges, some splits to the folds have been repaired on the verso with tape (not visible on the front of the map), 6 inch mended tear to upper left edge near Bonn, two small holes near "Bieherheim". The panel with the title has an uneven lower edge and it is likely missing the cover. A highly decorative and displayable mid 1800s view of this famous river and the many cities and attractions that border it. Detailed map of Germany drawn by Friedrich Herchenhein following the Rhein River from Coln at the top to Mannheim at the bottom, with views of the many cities and attractions along the way including Bonn, Coblenz, Bingen, Mainz, and Worms. .

Toronto.: C.C. Petersen.. 6th Edition. 1944.. Color pictorial / pictographic map, sheet 20 x 26 1/2 inches, folding as issued to 10 x 6 3/4 inches. Black and white map on verso. Tiny split at one fold edge, little creasing at one fold, light wear at fold intersections; overall very good condition. The "Dated Events" series was published by C.C. Petersen in Canada and distributed throughout North America. Several different titles in the series were issued and this is an example of the more uncommon titles. The color map encompasses the area of Great Britain and Scandinavia, as far south as the Northern coast of Africa and as far east as the Soviet Russia (partially obscured by an inset map of The Northern Hemisphere with the North Pole at centre). At upper left is a map of the Southern Hemisphere with the South Pole at centre. Naval bases are shown and significant events in the war are noted in text boxes. A handsome map by Stanley Turner, designed to keep the North American public "up-to-date" and to encourage them to "Buy More Bonds Win the War in 1944." On the verso is a black and white map of the Pacific Arena with considerable detail regarding naming, identification of resources and information on events in the progress of the war. .

Huge wall-sized color pictorial map, 42 x 33 inches (neatline) on sheet 45 x 35 1/2 inches, was folded now archivally mounted on linen. Light wear to fold lines with tiny loss, two short tears now visible only when closely examined. Bright color, very good condition. A scarce and striking pictorial map of Italy, including Sardinia. The pictograph images indicate all kinds of natural, industrial and commercial production with a listing at the lower edge of the principle products and industries in various regions of the country. The dating is suggested by the type of automobiles and aeroplane in the Torino area. No copy has been located on WorldCat. .

Short repaired tear to right edge, two tiny spots at lower edge of map, very light soft crease to one panel, overall very good condition, clean and bright. One of the more uncommon maps in the "Dated Events" series published by C.C. Petersen in Canada and distributed throughout North America. The color map by Stanley Turner encompasses the area from England (partially obscured by an inset map of Scandinavia and the Baltic) as far south as the French border with Spain and as far east as the USSR and Turkey (partially obscured by an inset map of South Greece and the Dodecanese). The map was designed so that the public would be able to follow the progress of the Allied troops in Europe. The legend identifies marking for Anglo-American, Russian, Axis and Neutral naval bases; German advance bases; oil pipe lines, beaches, German Production Centers etc. Much fascinating detail on this handsomely produced map. .

Very good condition in color pictorial paper envelope which has light wear to edges. One of the more uncommon maps in the "Dated Events" series published by C.C. Petersen in Canada, and distributed throughout North America. The color map by Stanley Turner encompasses the area from England (partially obscured by an inset map of Scandinavia and the Baltic) as far south as the French border with Spain and as far east as the USSR and Turkey (partially obscured by an inset map of South Greece and the Dodecanese). "With this invasion map you will be able to follow the progress of the Allied troops on their way to smash Germany..." The text at lower left goes on to elaborate on the features shown on the map, from elevation ("major battles are seldom fought on the tops of mountains") to pictographs of bombs falling. The black and white map on the verso shows the Far Eastern theatre of war, centering on the Pacific Ocean with the Asian landmass including India and the USSR at upper left, Australia at lower left and North America and the coast of South America at right of the map. Naval bases are shown and significant events in the war are noted in text boxes. Much fascinating detail on this handsomely produced map. .

Map shows railways, names of stations, turnpike roads, telegraph lines and stations, etc. Included is an inset map of the Scilly Isles. Cover identifies map as designed for "cyclists & tourists." Cover is faded and slightly distressed. Map itself is in very good clean condition. An attractive item with delicate hand coloring. While published by Gall and Inglis, the map is evidently the final iteration of John Cary's Cornwall map of 1806. Map was issued folded. .

Prominent on the map are the lines of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway as well as the Great Western Railway and the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway, indicating that the map was produced prior to the nationalization of the country's rail lines on 1 January 1948, with the lines above becoming part of British Railways. Code at lower left corner of map reads 9247 (hence 1947 likely date of publication). Map, offering sharp delineation of the region, in very good clean condition. The colorful pictorial map depicts both Spain and Portugal, while an inset map shows "Successive boundaries of Arab occupation in Spain from 711 until the final Moorish defeat in 1492." Colorful border illustrations include the Alhambra, the Alcantara Bridge in Toledo, The Cathedral at Barcelona, the Roman Aqueduct at Segovia, and many other landmarks.
