The binding measures just over 10 inches tall by 7 1/4 inches wide. Hardcover bound in original brown publisher's cloth with cover designs embossed in blind and with lettering in gilt. The binding shows some damping at the bottom of the front cover and the bottom of the rear cover. There is also some spotting along the fore edge of the front cover. This is also evident on the endpaper and flyleaves, but it does not appear to affect the text itself. The inner hinges are strong. Original owner's September 23, 1889 signature on the front flyleaf. Illustrated throughout with copious illustrations. The pagination starts on recto page (273) as publshed, which has the heading of "Suggestions to Our Patrons." The verso, or back side of this page is numbered 274 and discusses "Elastic Goods, a Specialty. Wholesale and Retail." The book is complete; there are no pages missing. Rare first edition.
