There is another lengthy inscription dated Dec. 25th, 2002 on the next page, but we do not know who signed that page. The book is additionally INSCRIBED AND SIGNED by the artist Pauline Heath King on page 170: "To N.... S.... / I understand this quote applies to you also. / Best Wishes, Sincerely, / Pauline Heath King." The quote referred to was by J. Sargeant Reynolds. The Reynolds quote is part of the printed book and reads, "While you have the chance, in the time of your life, live and enjoy it-- and add to the beauty and wonderment of the world as we know it." Pauline Heath King was a popular sculptor from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She started her career as an artist when she was near 50 years old, and she was active for about 30 years. Her sculpture were mostly of women, but she also did some busts of famous people such as Winston Churchill.

Hardcover bound in green cloth and housed in a green slipcase. Moderate wear to the slipcase. There is some bubbling to the cloth near the top of the slipcase, and the slipcase is a little dusty. The books show just about no wear. A sound set with clean text. The second volume contains 144 plates. The first 16 plates are in color; the rest are black and white. A suburb production. Jacques le Moyne de Morgues (c.1533-1588) was a French artist who accompanied Jean Ribault's expedition to the New World, settling briefly in Florida in 1564 before disaster struck on multiple fronts. Most of Le Moyne's original drawings have since been destroyed, but many of the images were preserved in the engravings by De Bry. Le Moyne and about two dozen from the Florida settlement eventually made it back to England and then Paris in 1565-6.
