There is a printed presentation ticket tipped in at the front reading, " Presented to Mrs. D. P. Marshall As a Souvenir of the First Annual Meeting of the Pacific Coast New-Church Association, held at the City of San Francisco August 16th, 17th, and 18th, 1890. By a Member of the San Francisco Delegation." (Recipient's name is hand-written in). There is a pencil inscription above this which is hard to read. The text is sound and clean within. John Doughty (1825-1893) was the first pastor of the New Jerusalem Church (Swedenborgian) in San Francisco. He was born to Quaker parents in Brooklyn, New York Scarce.
