There are a couple of signatures on the front endpapers. One reads, "Oct. 7, 1953 / In appreciation / L. J. Phipps." Phipps was one of the contributors to the book and wrote Chapter 17, "The Churches of Orange County." He was also the Chairman of the (Orange County) Bicentennial Committee. Laid in loosely is a brochure for the Orange County Bicentennial Observance, dated Oct. 7-13, 1953, where apparently this book was purchased. There is an old brown tape stain at the top of the title page where the brochure had been taped and detached. A sound copy. We've found a little pencil underlining in Phipps' chapter on Orange County churches. Illustrated with photos.
