The bindings are quite worn, and there is a 2 1/2 inch tear on the rear hinge of Volume I at the headcap. Some other lesser splitting or fraying to the extremities of the bindings as well. Front inner hinge is fully cracked (but still holding) with the muslin beneath exposed. Prior owner's name is written in red marker at the bottom edge of the text block on each volume. The text blocks themselves are generally sound and a little toned but unmarked.

Mordecai (1852-1927) was the first dean of the Law School at Trinity College (now Duke University) in Durham, North Carolina. Charles W. Collins (1879-1964) was born in Alabama and was a member of the Alabama Bar. He moved to the D.C. area in the late 1910s and worked with the Library of Congress. He died in Maryland. Collins' did not seem to be in favor of the Fourteenth Amendment.

Will your property be confiscated? Will your daughter lose her job? Will you lose freedom of speech?" This is a May, 1941 reprint of a 1935 book.

Newpaper clipping laid in loosely between the last to blank flyleaves has resulted in browning on those blank pages.
