Blount Cheshire." Cheshire (1850-1932) was the Bishop of North Carolina for the Episcopal Church from 1893 to 1922. Wade R. Brown was the Dean of the music department at the State Normal and Industiral School (now UNCG) in Greensboro, North Carolina and is the faculty member for whom the Brown Building is named. ~~ Milnor Jones was an itinerant Episcopal preacher from South Carolina who went to western North Carolina in the late 19th century to preach and establish churches in the remote mountain valleys. Along with Cheshire, he helped re-establish and build a mission and church in Valle Crucis, North Carolina, near Boone. This volume contains an account of his work in South Carolina as well as in the NC counties of Watauga, Mitchell, and Ashe. Chapter 5 (pages 54 to 66) is on the Valle Crucis Mission. Illustrated with several photos.
