Front flyleaves and frontispiece are loose from binding but have been placed in correct position within book.Due date slip glued to rear pastedown. Rear flyleaf is toned from placement of due date slip. Text is toned. Page 39 is loose from binding but has been placed within book. Some pages missing upper corners but text is not affected.

The binding is a bit rubbed and worn and has some pale spots. Spine is rubbed along the hinges. Corners bumped. Inner hinges secure. No copyright date. The Preface is dated 1880 and the book was given as a Christmas gift in 1897. "Dr. & Mrs. Haight / from Kate Stuart / Xmas 1897." Laid in loosely is a lovely card which appears to be hand-drawn or painted and bears the name "Mrs. Haight." (The card looks to be outlined in pencil and then hand painted or colored). A sound copy. The text has some off-setting from other pages in a few places.
