HC first edition; VG/G; book is very nice, clean, unmarked except for small sticker mark on ffep, very minor rubbing at edges, dent in middle of front cover (looks like teeth marks but isn't). DJ worn, chipped at edges and folds, but intact. Jacket design by Raymond Briggs, who also did the illustrations. A collection of folk and fairy tales, some by Anon. Authors include E. Nesbit, G. W. Dasent, Tennyson, Lewis Carroll, Andrew Lang and many others. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

New York: Thomas Y. Crowell Company, 1978. First American edition. Hardcover. Fair. Jan Pienkowski; lettered by Jane Walmsley. Small HC (approx. 3 1/4 x 4 inches) in illustrated boards. A retelling of the Grimm story, beautifully lettered by Jane Walmsley and illustrated by Jan Pienkowski. Unfortunately this copy has had a hard life and shows very significant wear. The edges of the boards are badly rubbed all around, spine is worn, and the ffep is partly torn through at the gutter. Rip could be repaired with archival tape.Pencil marks on two pages. HTF little book. Condition fair to good.

Philadelphia: Keystone, 1889. First American edition. Boards. Very Good- . 405 pages, 7 1/2 x 5 inches, dark red deeply embossed covers, overall good condition. Corners are bumped, slight spine lean, pages somewhat age darkened, becoming a bit loose. Considering its age it's held up well. Very small sticker on inside front cover from G. Dunn & Co., Second Hand and New Books and Magazines, 22 W. 6th Street, St. Paul. This was a very popular book in Britain at the time, recounting the adventures of Hajji Baba, a "sort of Persian Gil Blas".

Riverview NB: Robert D. Barton, n.d.. Apparent First. Staplebound. Very Good. Four 32 page staple-bound pamphlets, in red card covers with B & W illustrations and gold accents. Each contains a collection of interesting facts, trivia, hisgtoric curiousities etc., with B & W sketches. No date, but seem to be fairly recent, probably within the last 20 years.

London UK: Stacey Intl, 2007. Reprint. Hardcover. Very Good +. Kathryn Lamb. 85 p. landscape format HC approx 8 x 5 inches. White glossy boards. Originally published in 1985,reprinted several times. Each proverb is printed in Arabic letters, in Arabic transliterated to the Latin alphabet, and translated into English, follwed by a similar English proverb, comparison, or short explanation. Humorous sketches illustrate each page. The English forematter is repeated in Arabic at the back of the book (which of course is the front for readers of Arabic!) Very good, clean, unmarked copy.

Navy blue cloth boards, embossed design from Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves on front cover. VG-, no DJ. Several small white smudges on front cover, bottom of spine is bumped and rubbed, corners rubbed. Last page is torn across and has been mended (regrettably) with cellotape. Front hinge loose. Inside fep is printed "Welcome Naomi Rae - The Forever Friends May, 1989". May have been a personalized copy. Apart from noted flaws the book is very nice and clean. Four longer stories and nine short nursery rhymes are illustrated with colour pictures taken from Victorian magic lantern slides produced by the London firm of W. Butcher & Son (Primus) from the collection of L. M. H. Smith. Introduction by Smith. A quite charming and unusual book, more for adults than children. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

Montreal: Guerin, 1994. Apparent First. Staplebound. Very Good +. Real Berard. 48 p.; small booklet, No. 13 in Series #6 of a collection "Horizon Pancanadien". En Francais. It appears to be a ghost story featuring Simon Laframboise, a settler in Manitoba's Interlake region c. 1885.
