"No man is an island, particularly when he is trailblazing through territory new to him and most particularly when he attempts to produce a work of this extent. Space does not permit me to acknowledge all the help and advice I received from numerous historical societies and their members who were in touch with me at one time or another during preparation and writing of this book. A few names, I confess, I neglected to record or lost along the way. I am thinking particularly of the Francis Marion National Forest ranger who took us to the site of the Wambaw fight and the gentlemen at the courthouse in Calhoun County, South Carolina, who finally put us on the right track to Fort Motte. To you and to others who I may have neglected to mention, my sincere apologies...." - Acknowledgements (for all three volumes of the Guide) from The Bicentennial Guide to the American Revolution This is a three book set and may require additional postage. The wind was south-east and the mercury rose to 76 in the heat of the day, which was not at all bad for the season.Forty or fifty representatives from what had been called provinces or colonies, from New Hampshire to Georgia, had been meeting for some time in Pennsylvania's brick State House - later to be known as Independence Hall - and on this day their debates did not end till evening." - Prologue "in Congress, July 4th 1776, The Story Of The Declaration Of Independence
