Vintage publicity photograph from the 1948 film, showing actors Bud Abbott and Lou Costello facing off against Lon Chaney Jr., Bela Lugosi, and Glenn Strange (as the Wolf Man, Dracula, and Frankenstein's monster, respectively). Freight handlers come across the remains of Frankenstein's monster, and soon find themselves caught in a battle between Dracula, who seeks to resurrect the monster, and the Wolf Man, who wishes to thwart Dracula. Collection of 17 reference photographs from the set of the 1995 film featuring Abel Ferrara, Lili Taylor, cinematographer Ken Kelsch, screenwriter Nicholas St. John, and other cast members, photographed in a single evening near Manhattan's Puck Building and Keith Haring's Pop Shop by filmmaker Shade Rupe. Struck in 2020 from Rupe's original negatives, these being the only existing prints. Full provenance available, with letter from Rupe stating "no other prints have ever, or will ever, be struck." Stamp on verso of each photo crediting Rupe as photographer. Ferrara's philosophical, conceptual, black-and-white reimagining of the vampire movie, featuring an outstanding performance from Taylor as an NYU philosophy grad student forced to reconsider the nature of evil and humanity after succumbing to a vampire and developing an addiction to human blood. Burbank, CA: Warner Brothers, 1980. Collection of ten vintage black and white borderless studio still photographs from the 1980 film. Based on screenwriter Paddy Chayefsky's 1978 novel. Director Ken Russell's first American film, itself an "altered state" during production. Russell was constantly inebriated on the set, and had the actors mumble their lines in protest against Chayefsky's script. Chayefsky was subsequently banned from the set, and denounced the film even before production began. Edward Jessup (William Hurt, in his film debut) is a Harvard professor whose studies of the limits of human consciousness inevitably lead him down a strange and horrible path, from early experiments with a sensory deprivation tank to participation in Mexican Ayahuasca ceremonies. Collection includes one postcard and two letters on Russell Films letterhead, all written by Russell to a Richard Barfield. Also in the collection are a cassette tape in a case with an adhesive label reading "Altered States 135080 Indian Music," a small newspaper clipping from an unknown source regarding audience reception of the film, a program for the film's release, and the front and back wrappers of a March 1981 issue of "Starlog" magazine with a cover story about the anticipated release of the film. A young woman watching over her cousin's house is mistakenly kidnapped by a crazed sex cult. Jean Michel Rollin Roth Le Gentil, more commonly known as Jean Rollin, had gained notoriety (and some scandal) with his early French vampire films "Le Viol du Vampire" (1968), "La Vampier Nue" (1970), "Le Frisson des Vampires" (1970), and "Requiem pour un Vampire" (1971). When beginning production on his first non-vampire film "La Rose de Fer" (1973) he found himself in need of funding and began making adult sex films, which he continued to direct under a variety of pseudonyms through the mid-1980s. 5 x 7 inches. Soon everyone is a peninsular town begins getting sick with the same illness, which the doctor has never seen before. As soon as he calls the county medical examiner about it, the area is quarantined and shut off from information. Riots begin on both sides on the quarantine as more and more people die in the small town. General debauchery, chaos and fervent religiosity reign supreme in the final days of the town, left to die while, unbeknownst to the government, some sneak out to Denmark to seek help via scuba diving and laugh when someone takes their picture and offers them money for the shot.
