A cartographer unwittingly involves himself in a legal battle between a maritime mob gambling syndicate and the city government, in the process falling in love with the mob boss's daffy girlfriend and discovering a career as an amateur boxer and gambling shark. Screenwriter George Bruce was best known for "The Duke of West Point" (1938), "South of Pago Pago" (1940), and "Two Years Before the Mast" (1946). Set in New York. Housed in a brown paper slipcase. The first original theatrical film produced by Warner Brothers Animation, and the first film in the DC Animated Universe superhero film franchise. Self wrappers. London: Winkast Programming, 1970. Draft script for an unproduced film. Stanley Ellin's screen adaptation of his 1970 novel. Film rights for Ellin's novel had been bought in 1969, prior to its publication, by producer Phil Waxman, wanting Robert Redford in the lead. It would not be made into a motion picture until 1979 when Richard C. Sarafian filmed a loosely based, comedic adaptation entitled "Sunburn," written by James Booth, John Daly, and Stephen Oliver and starring Farrah Fawcett-Majors, Charles Grodin, and Art Carney. From the estate of film producer Elliott Kastner, whose best known credits include "The Long Goodbye" (Robert Altman, 1973), "The Missouri Breaks" (Arthur Penn, 1976), and "Heat" (Michael Mann, 1996). An American tourist on vacation in South America finds himself stranded in a small town with his blind cat after his car breaks down. When a prominent citizen is shot, everyone begins to suspect the tourist, with the mob soon getting involved. Set in South America. Orange titled wrappers. Hollywood: Howco Productions, 1957. Draft script for the 1957 film. Copy belonging to actor Dick Miller, with his manuscript pencil annotations throughout. Miller was apparently considered for the role of Stanley, as many of Stanley's lines are marked with manuscript pencil and then struck through, but was ultimately cast in the role of Ben. The gangster owner of a nightclub on a carnival pier is tormented by his love for the club's star, who herself is in love with a local businessman with dreams of buying out the club. An early role for Miller, who appeared in 14 films directed by legendary independent filmmaker Roger Corman between 1955 and 1961, and would continue to work with Corman throughout his career. A down-on-his-luck American boxer is drawn into a long-standing feud between two Japanese brothers-one a businessman, the other a traditional samurai. Shot in Osaka and Kyoto, Japan, and in Los Angeles. Black titled CBS wrappers. With Jurgensen's business card laid in. D'Antoni was a major figure in 1970s New Hollywood Cinema, as the producer of "Bullitt" (1968), "The French Connection" (1972), and "The Seven-Ups" (1973). A nonfiction book that addresses the pursuit and capture of New York's most notorious cop killer, surrounding the killing of a white police officer at the Harlem Mosque in New York City in 1972. Author Jurgensen was a New York City police officer deeply involved in the case. A fictionalized version of the story, "Murder at the Harlem Mosque," was published in 1977. Near Fine in an about Fine dust jacket.

Near Fine in a solid Very Good dust jacket with some chipping at the crown (titles not affected), some light toning on the spine panel, and a few nicks on the extremities. A rare book in its original jacket, this being only the second example we have ever encountered. In a custom maroon clamshell box.

Culver City, CA: RKO Radio Pictures, 1954. Two vintage full-color still photographs from the 1954 UK release of the 1954 US film. Written for the screen by Horace McCoy and W. R. Burnett, with the help of Charles Bennett (a Hitchcock favorite), about a mob killing and a witness, young Louise Graham, who flees to Montana too afraid to testify. Two men become very interested in Louise and both vie for her attention, but she is unaware that one is a mob hitman, and the other a cop sent to protect her. A story set and shot on location in Glacier Park, Montana. 8 x 10 inches. Numerical annotations on the verso, else Near Fine.

Beverly Hills, CA: United Artists, 1978. Collection of 12 vintage studio still photographs from the 1978 film. Loosely based on the exploits of Jimmy Hoffa, the notorious boss of the Teamsters Union. In the 1930s, a ruthless warehouse worker in Cleveland climbs his way to the top of a trucking union, but his links to organized crime prove to be his downfall. Shot on location in South Yorkshire in the UK, Mineral Point and Dodgeville in Wisconsin, Dubuque in Iowa, and Los Angeles in California. 10 x 8 inches. Near Fine.

Prohibition is ending so bootlegger Bugs Ahearn decides to crack California society. He leases a house from down-on-her-luck Ruth and hires her as social secretary. He rescues Polly Cass from a horsefall and goes home to meet her dad who sells him some phony stock certificates. When he learns about this he sends to Chicago for mob help. 8 x 10 inches. Fine.

Full-color illustrated pocketed folder, containing 21 black and white photographs, and 9 gatherings of promotional reading material. A crooked, cantankerous bookie in 1930s Los Angeles is given a six-year-old little girl as collateral for a bet, and soon finds himself the child's sole caretaker. A remake of the 1934 film directed by Alexander Hall, starring Shirley Temple. Set and shot on location in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Sonora County, and Santa Rosa, California.
