N.p.: N.p., 1963. Archive of eleven double weight photographs of Chubby Checker in concert, apparently unpublished, by noted photographer Michael Montfort, from his estate. All but one of the photographs are bear the stamp of German weekly newspaper "Bild am Sonntag" crediting Montfort, and a separate date stamp of "5.8.63." Born in Freiburg, Germany, Michael Montfort began his career working as a photojournalist for German magazines such as "Stern," "Quick," and "Bild am Sonntag." In addition to shooting numerous rock and jazz performances, he covered Queen Elizabeth's 1965 visit to Germany, the aftermath of the Six Day War in Israel and Egypt, and the May 1968 protests in Paris. Montfort emigrated to Los Angeles in 1973 and began working as a freelancer. In 1975, Reed released one of his most critically acclaimed albums ("Coney Island Baby") as well as one of his most critically panned ("Metal Machine Music"), although both are now considered underrated and visionary works in his oeuvre. 10 x 8 inches. Struck by photographer Jim Marshall circa 1990s, most with his stamp and manuscript identification number on the verso. Artists represented include Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Sly and the Family Stone, Santana, Jim Morrison, Tina Turner, The Allman Brothers Band (including standalone shots of Duane Allman), and others. Gary Gross was a prominent fashion photographer best known for his controversial 1975 photographs of a nude 10-year-old Brooke Shields, later appropriated by artist Richard Prince for his 1983 series "Spiritual America." 15.25 x 15.5 inch image printed on 16 x 20 inch photographic paper. Print mounted on a 20 x 24 inch illustration board, with a 22 x 24 x 8 inch ply archival mat. Photograph with a diagonal crease to the far top right corner (image not affected), else Near Fine.

Hackford's documentary of two 1986 concerts on October 16, 1986 at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis, celebrating Chuck Berry's 60th birthday. Featuring performances and interviews with a multitude of musicians, spanning musical genres and generations, including Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, Linda Ronstadt, Etta James, Steve Jordan, and others. Collection of twelve vintage double weight photographs, two vintage black and white photographs, and two vintage borderless color photographs of David Bowie performing onstage as part of the Diamond Dogs Tour in 1974. With the stamp of photographer Duana LeMay on the verso. A concert tour in support of Bowie's 1974 album of the same name, considered by some to be the musician's farewell to glam rock, heavily influenced by George Orwell's post-apocalyptic novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four." The tour was purportedly difficult, in part due to the enormous cost and technical issues associated with the intricate set and props required for each show (executed by legendary set designer Mark Ravitz) and in part due to Bowie's growing dependence on cocaine. In its original incarnation, the tour lasted two months, before the baroque set was abandoned and the name changed to "The Soul Tour." 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus, with some faint soil.

Archive of 20 photographs, consisting of eight vintage black and white photographs of British rock group Faces performing onstage in 1975, and twelve vintage black and white candid photographs of lead singer Rod Stewart and guitarist Ronnie Wood relaxing backstage and signing autographs. With the stamp and printed label of photographer Duana LeMay to the verso, and several with manuscript ink annotations regarding layout. Faces was formed in 1969, and released four albums before breaking up shortly after completing their 1975 US tour. 18 photographs 8 x 10 inches, one photograph 7.5 x 10 inches, and one photograph 7 x 6 inches. Very Good plus overall.

London: London Features International, 1970. Collection of 13 vintage photographs of Elton John, circa 1970s, including twelve bordered photographs and one borderless. Twelve photographs with printed agency labels or stamps on the verso, and many with photographer stamps and manuscript ink annotations on the verso. Two photographs show John alongside his longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin, although the balance show John onstage in a variety of intricate and outlandish costumes, including one photograph capturing the musician playing the piano in a particularly flamboyant sequined coat with matching angel wings and halo. Especially notable among the collection is a photograph of the musician meeting Princess Alexandria of Denmark, circa 1972. Nine photographs measuring 8 x 10 inches, four photographs measuring 8 x 6 inches. Generally Near Fine.

N.p.: N.p., 1972. Vintage borderless satin-finish double-weight reference photograph from the 1972 documentary film, showing musicians George Harrison and Bob Dylan performing together. One of the first large-scale humanitarian aid rock concerts, The Concert for Bangladesh featured a plethora of 1960s pop and rock musicians performing to raise relief funds for the refugees of the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War-related genocide, spearheaded by Harrison and Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar. The event was filmed in its entirety, as well as made into a successful album by Apple Corps, but performance rights and tax issues led to funds raised from the film and album (speculated to total anywhere from $8 to 10 million) being held in an IRS escrow account for over a decade. Shot on location over two days at Madison Square Garden in New York. 9.5 x 7 inches. Near Fine.

Los Angeles: Twentieth Century-Fox, 1972. Vintage black-and-white double weight still photograph from the 1972 film, featuring a wailing George Harrison playing his guitar. Harrison arranged a concert to benefit the people of Bangladesh (at the behest of Ravi Shankar), and staged the show in New York's Madison Square Garden in 1971. Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Ravi Shankar, and many others performed alongside Harrison, and it is considered one of the first foreign-aid benefit concerts. 7 x 9.25 inches, with no borders as issued. A hint of rubbing to the corners, else Near Fine.

New York: N.p., 1975. Vintage press booklet for Lou Reed's 1975 album "Coney Island Baby," designed by Andrew Wylie with photographs by Mick Rock. Containing edited lyrics from the album's title track, and featuring quotes by Lester Bangs, David Bowie, Ralph J. Gleason, John Rockwell, and Andy Warhol. Rare. An unusual press booklet, befitting Reed's output of the 1970s, designed and produced in a decidedly 1970s DIY New York underground style by Andrew Wylie, who in the 1980s would become Reed's long term literary agent. 8.5 x 10.75, side-stapled in card wrappers. Four pages. Faint rubbing to the wrappers, with light toning overall, else Near Fine. Crisp and clean.

Collection of five vintage black and white photographs of vocalist Bryan Ferry and guitarist Phil Manzanera performing with Roxy Music on the 1975-1976 tour to promote the release of "Siren." Four photographs double-weight. With the stamp of photographer Duana LeMay to the verso, and one with LeMay's printed and addressed label and manuscript ink annotations regarding layout. "Siren" was the band's fifth album, and the first to produce a mainstream hit in the US, "Love is the Drug." 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine.

New York: N.p., 1970. Four vintage promotional photographs of progressive folk-rock group McKendree Spring from the estate of violinist Michael Dreyfuss, likely dating from the 1970s. Dreyfuss pioneered the use of violins distorted by electronic and analog synthesizers, counting synthesizer inventor Robert Moog amongst his close friends, and McKendree Spring largely became known for the experimental sound that he helped craft. McKendree Spring's most noted work includes "God Bless the Conspiracy," "Spring Suite," and their covers of James Taylor's "Fire and Rain," and Neil Young's "Down By the River." 8 x 10 inches.
