Very good housed in firm, later green cloth box lettered in gilt (spine and front cover) showing some wear to extremities. 22 x 31 cm, 37 hand-colored etched plates, including etched title in No. 1., in the nine original parts. ABBEY LIFE 275. COHN 181. Notes the first six numbers with a printed title were not issued with the parts. He also states, "India proofs of this item were not issued. The work has often been reprinted in inferior style." First state of the second plate in number five. Wrapper No IV is as described by COHN: "The wrappers of Part III are used, and '4' is written in ink over the III with Cruikshank's complaint of Mr. Kidd the publisher." .Backstrip of No. 3 chipped, No. VII cover stained, approx. 9 centimeters from upper spine to the "My" in title, balance of issues are sound, bright and fresh.

Three leaves of text printed recto only, descriptions in French of the 18 Art Nouveau full page color lithographs depicting Dufrene's designs to furnish a complete apartment -- kitchen, his and hers bedrooms, bath, library, entry hall, etc. Dufrene designed many different types of decorative art including metalwork, ceramics, glass and fabric. He also designed complete interiors, but was best known for his furniture. In the 1920s he quickly adapted to the Art Deco movement. Title page and introduction by Gustave Sorlier lacking. Ex-library, plates not marked, latter bright and clean, backstrips nicked at extremities.
