Imprint page has pencil note indicating the book was bound into hardback by C and H T Evans 06/01/64. Some pencil lines in margins ad text. Pp418..447 have sixteen pages with laid on text sheets indicating perhaps a print failing on these pages. A good book with an interesting provenance and unique tight binding.

With two typed letters signed. One from Douglas A Stump of the Dial Press to the Historian Ian Grey outlining the contents of the book and asking for his comments on the book. The other is letter is from the author to Ian Grey thanking him for his review of the book in History Today and indicating how Ian Grey had influenced his work. There are draft notes for a reply by Ian Grey in pencil on this letter. Book is tight bright and clean. Letters are bright and clean, though toned along one edge where they have been exposed to light. A first class work with an interesting provenance.
