Interview with Sandra Jordan of SandrasACRE

When did you get started in bookselling?
I started selling books in 2005.
What drew you to bookselling?
I have a love for books and had collected lots of books over the years. Space was valuable and the option of purchasing more bookshelves was not feasible. So, I found that to put my books online for other people to enjoy was the best way to have my books read by others instead of collecting dust on an old bookcase.
Did you have any mentors in becoming a bookseller?
I do have a mentor in becoming a bookseller. My daughter Melinda was my inspiration in becoming an online merchant.
What are your specialties as a dealer?
Textbooks, cookbooks, travel, do it yourself, gardening, etc are my specialties as a dealer.
What's the most amazing book you've ever sold?
My most amazing book was "Breakfast at Tiffany's". It is a little yellow book. I was not expecting much out of this book. However, I got the most I have ever received from a book. But, the best part is the customer wrote a nice note thanking me so much for this book. He was a book collector and had looked for this particular book for a long time.
What is your favorite part of being a bookseller?
My favorite part of being a bookseller is passing on books I have read to another person who loves books just as much as I. And books are easy to package and the postage is a lot cheaper than other products to mail.
Do you have an open storefront or have you in the past?
I do not have an open storefront in person nor have I ever.
If so, do/did you have any bookstore pets?
I do not have any bookstore pets.
What is the funniest / strangest / scariest thing that ever happened in your store?
Can not think of anything. Not too much to be scared or strange or funny in an online Biblio store.
What is your favorite bookshop (other than your own)?
I am still looking for my favorite bookshop. I like researching different bookshops for my own curiosity to see what everyone has available.
What do you personally like to read? Collect?
I like to read do it yourself books, gardening, and travel.
What's your favorite book you personally own? Would you sell it, if the price were right?
My favorite book in which I own is "365 days of Gardening".
What one book would you buy if price were no object?
If you were stranded on a desert island and could bring three books, what would they be?
If I was stranded on a desert island and could only bring three books I would bring my Bible, gardening book, cookbook.
