Henry Altemus. G/NONE. circa 1899. edition info missing. Hardcover; Printing info missing. Rated in only good condition due to the title page and free rear endpaper being removed. Also due to the title/copyright page being removed, the frontispiece which shows an oval engraving of Holmes became completely separated. It has recently been attached back in by what looks like magic tape. Both front and rear covers have gold and white flower designs on two-thirds each with the other quarter part having embossed flower medallions also glued on the covers. The glued medallion paper is missing from the rear cover. All corners and spine edges have a bit of bumping and open wear from handling and usage all these years. Endpapers are white with green illustrations and the Henry Altemus insignia. Also, the front side of the frontispiece has a previous owner's name neatly written in pencil and dated Sept 15, 1908, last name could be Flute or Plute or Hute, etc. Text is clean and tight.
