Here are 41 of them, all different, in As New condition. Each aircraft is presented on a full-color four-fold card (12 3/16" x 8 15/16" when open), printed on all sides - with graphics, the aircraft's history and specs, and an engrossing "Action Data" section, in which it is compared with closely competing contemporaneous aircraft. Leps (Adrien Louis Jacques Leps, generally referred to as Jacques Leps, 12 confirmed air victories) dated April 7, 1972, with half photograph of Leps beside his Nieuport fighter on March 16, 1917, also inscribed and signed, for a collector in 1972. ALS is on the letterhead of the French Fighter Pilot Association, in this case with a Stork Logo, emblematic of the Cigognes (Stork) Squadron. Despite his use of this letterhead, however, Leps was not in command of howeverHaving been named the Squadron Commander of les Cigones (SPA 3), but instead was elevated to command of the Hounds (SPA 81). This honor was given him "...not by the brass, but by the choice and even the insistence of my brave comrade pilots" and the honor was one of several candidates for hs greatest satisfaction as a pilot, as he enumerates in the ALS. Scott Crossfield was an American naval officer, test pilot and airline development executive. In 1953, he became the first pilot to fly at Mach 2, that being a local relative flow rate of twice the speed of sound. One ALS, undated, a full-page handwritten letter by André Dunoyer de Segonzac (the WWII Spitfire Mk V/IX pilot, not the painter, a possible relative), written in English, with photograph taken upon return from a Spring '44 mission. Photograph signed & captioned in his hand on the back. ALS signature is printed at the top; photograph signature in script. Letter has folds, text slants on page, else VG or better. The 5.5" x 3.5" photograph does show an area of light discloration (see scan), probably produced in the development of the shot. Included in his handwritten account of his career: "A. de Segonzac 611 Squadron RAF Auxiliary Spitfires Summer 1943 Protected USAF Mitchells B 25 harassed by Ger. fighters over No. Holland on return from raid over N. Blair was a United States Air Force Brigadier General, United States Navy aviator Captain, a test pilot, an airline pilot, and airline owner - the latter, specifically, as founder of Antilles Air Boats, Inc., for which he was himself flying a Grumman Goose when he dies in a left-engine-failure induced crash, following a falsified maintenance release from a licensed mechanic. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Blair speaks, in this TLS, of his trans-polar flight from Norway to Alaska in a P-51 Mustang fighter - that being the first solo flight in history across the Arctic Ocean and the North Pole.
