Blurb: Prairie Fire: The 1885 North-West Rebellion tells us about the Métis, who simply wanted the long-standing boundaries of their river-lot farms respected by the government as Ottawa divided up the land to sell it to homesteaders.

There is a closed 10mm tear on front cover. The interior is clean and the pages and cover are still supple. Overall this is a very presentable item. Mr. Chapleau admonishes the Conservative Government on the hanging of Louis Riel. "No; the great danger with us is that we shall make a faction of the minority in this country, that we shall make what is called a close political alliance amongst ourselves, but in reality one which would be most unpatriotic and disastrous to the French Canadians."

There is a light crease to front cover. The inside is clean and tight. The item is very good to near fine. Foreword by Edmund H. Oliver. The short reminiscences of Saskatoon, were written by various first settlers too Saskatoon. "At our frequent meetings various plans for the protection of the women and children were discussed, chief of which was the erection of a fort on what is now Yorath Island....a meeting of the Pioneers' Society held in the schoolhouse on March 23, 1885 are revealing."
