One of a series of four story books, each with 6 colour plates and scores of illustrations. This one has very pretty pictorial boards showing a little boy peeping from behind a tree at a little girl sitting eating an apple. Pictorial endpapers by W. Heath Robinson. Front endpaper shows characters from fairy tales, rear endpaper characters from nursery rhymes. Red cloth spine with black titles. 10x8". Spine is a little grubby. A few scuff marks to covers. Corners are bumped and worn. Foxing to outer page edges. A few closed margin tears. One hinge pulled. Five of six colour plates missing. 4 b/w illustrations have been coloured in.

Green cloth with silver title block to spine and blue/green decorations. 'T' shaped pictorial onlay to front cover, shjowing a boy and a girl walking in the snow, confronted by a big bird! First story is 'When Hawkins Sailed the Sea'. Includes roughly 6 Louis Wain illustrations. Spine and corners are bumped and worn, with some fraying to cloth. Chipping and a few tears to pictorial onlay with a couple of pieces of loss. New endpapers. Foxing to outer page edges.

Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. Blue cloth spine with gilt title, pale blue boards with gilt title and vignette to front. Colour plates and text illustrations. 156 pages. First story is "One Christmas Eve". Light wear to cover edges. Name and address in ink to half-title page. Dot-to-dot on page 73 completed. Page 96/97 have some surface paper damage. It looks like at one time, the pages got a little damp and the pages were stuck together next to spine. Now some of page 97 (illustration page) has stuck to edges of page 96, making a 1" hole in illustration, so affecting illustration to verso of page 97. Rest of contents are excellent. Pictorial wrapper is a little edge-torn and chipped, with only a couple of small chips of loss.
