Some flecking of the lower edge of the front panel. Light tanning and even lighter foxing of the textblock edges. A little offset tanning and faint foxing to the end pages with previous owners name to the top edge of the free front end page. Age toning of the pages. The dustwrapper is in disrepair – please see photograph. The backstrip is completely missing. The front fold over crease is only held together by approximately 1.5" at the top area and the front panel is torn, creased with a piece missing to the left-hand edge of the panel. Insect activity can also be seen; there is browning and handling marks also present along with some foxing to the fold over crease. The rear panel is chipped, torn at the top edge and the panel shows quite marked browning along with some handling marks. The fold over crease has split in places and there is foxing also present. The classic Edward Fitzgerald translation of the Persian poet Omar Khayyam's poems. The book is showing age and use. Illustrator: O'Brien (Kathleen) . the text is illustrated with the occasional sepia toned, a full-page, drawing by 'O'Brien' (Kathleen) (woman illustrator from the 1930s in Sydney). Illustrated card cover, again by O'Brien) with black coloured titles. The classic Edward Fitzgerald translation of the Persian poet Omar Khayyam's poems. This small edition was probably published just prior to World War II and it features the illustrations by a Sydney female illustrator who went in the name of O'Brien. Words fail how bad the cover of this book is – please see photograph. Chipping, rubbing tears and holes are present to the book corners and the top right-hand corner of the front panel is missing. Rubbing, stains and marks to the book panels and insect damage can be seen to the lower left-hand corner of the front panel, backstrip and either side of the backstrip. Light tanning and some foxing of the text book edges with light age toning of the pages. Some foxing and, it looks like cigarette burns to the lower edge of the first few pages of the book. The textblock itself is firm and tight with no loose pages; though the lower right-hand corner of the book has become somewhat dogeared.
