Oregon: University of Oregon Books, 1959. Hardcover. Good +/good. Red cloth hardcover with gilt spine lettering, in dustjacket. A good copy - clean and tight, but with minor bending at the upper corners and spine tips. Unclipped jacket is not as good with scuffing to the panels visible as white against the dark green paper, some chips and bending at the panel edges, and an indiction that the book was stored next to some spiral bound materials that have dug into the dustjacket at the joints leaving small punctures to the paper which have minimally ground through to the book joints . 226 pp., indexed, with one fold-out map toward the front of the book. Volume two in the Univeristy of Oregon Monographs series, Studies in History.

New York: M. Evans & Company, Inc., 1990. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/good +. Signed and inscribed by the author on the half-title page, "To Harry Klug - Best Wishes - Tom Rumer Aug. 25,'90." Some illegible writing between the signature and the date. Red and blue hardcover, 1st edition in dustjacket. A very good copy with minor edge-wear and a bit of bending at the head of the spine column. Binding and hinges are solid, and the text is unmarked other than the author's inscription. Unclipped dustjacket is good but with a crinkly bend to the head of the spine panel that doesn't seem to want to flatten out - still bright and attractive. A thick volume at 610 pp., indexed, many black and white photos. A detailed history of the American Legion and the programs they created to assist United States Military Veterans.

Signed by two of the soldiers from the Band of Brothers, Buck Compton and Don Malarkey, on the title page without inscription. Blue hardcover, 1st edition, in dustjacket. A very good copy with crimping at the spine tips and a shallow bump at the top of the rear board. Clean, square, and tight as if unread. Unclipped jacket with $24.95 price intact. Jacket has ruffling to the top panel edges and general light - bright and attractive with the 5/08 publishing marke rto the rear flap. 275 pp., indexed, black and white photo section. The story of paratrooper Buck Compton of Easy Company, nicely signed by two of the Band of Brothers.

Virginia: Published by the author, 1982. First edition. Hardcover. Good +. Gray cloth hardcover with gilt spine titles, lacking dustjacket. A good plus copy with crimping at the spine tips and clean and straight boards. Binding and hinges are solid, gently used. Would be a very good copy other than sporadic markings and writing in pencil - not pervasive, but occasional. 267 pp., indexed, bibliography.

A very good copy with a bend to the top of the front cover and minor edgewear. Text is clean and binding is solid. Laid in at front is a copy of a Daily News article about Clinton honoring Iwo Jima hero Jack Lummus. Unpaginated (about 30 pages), black and white photos throughout - a who's who of famous marines used as a recruitment tool in the late 90s.

New York: Brightlights Publications, 1995. Paperback. Fair. Red stapled softcover. Minor wear at the edges, binding solid. Previous owner's markings throughout make this a fair to good copy. Notes and marginalia, highlighting in 3 colors. All of the notations seem like they are related to people who should have been included, along with reminders to ask certain people about various exclusions. Unpaginated (about 30 pages), black and white photos throughout - a who's who of famous marines used as a recruitment tool in the late 90s.

New York: Jonathan Cape & Harrison Smith, 1931. First edition. Hardcover. Fair. Hardcover, 1st edition, in fair to good condition, lacking dustjacket. Heavy wear to the corners and spine tips with some loss of the cloth. Spine sunned and titles faded. Rear hinge is damaged, with the webbing showing through the paper. The front hinge is weak, but intact. Photo of Evans is pasted to the front endpaper, perhaps a piece of the dustjacket, and a previous owner's bookplate is on the facing endpage. A small snip of paper with the US Naval Institute insignia is laid in at front. Foxing to the title page, but not throughout the book. A complete, readable copy, but with structural flaws and much wear. 495 pp., indexed, 10 black & white plates.

Signed and inscribed by the author on the title page, "To Becky - Jay Kopelman." A very good copy with wear at the bottom of the board edges and the lower spine end. Otherwise a clean, unmarked copy in solid binding - tight as if unread. Unclipped jacket is bright, attractive and adorable. Sticker remnant to the lower rear panel and a small black sharpie mark at the top of the rear panel. 196 pp., indexed, some black and white photos. The true story of an abandoned puppy and the marines who adopted him in the midst of the Iraq war.

Unclipped jacket with minor shelfwear at the edges and a bit of scuffing to the rear panel. 243 pp., some black and white photos at center. The inspiring story of an Army officer in Iraq and the impact of the loss of his sight in a suicide bombing.

Two bookplates on the front endpapers, otherwise an unmarked copy. The dustjacket is clean and unclipped but with a couple of short tears to the top of the spine panel and light crinkling at the top of the front flap. 347 pp., indexed, some black and white photos. The story of the Second Wisconsin Infantry in their first campaign of the Civil War.

Signed without inscription by the author on the half-title page in blue ink. A very good copy with a bit of wear at the spine tips and a couple discolored spots to the front cover. Interior is clean, tight and unmarked. Dustjacket is good with chips and short tears at the folds and spine ends. 320 pp., indexed, some black and white photos. James Welch, known for his literary fiction, tackles the Little Big Horn.

Indiana: Authorhouse, 2006. First edition. Paperback. Good. Tan softcover, signed and inscribed by the author on the first blank, "Thank you for your interest in our history. Enjoy! Jean M Ballinger 8/3/07." Bending to corners and wear to the top edge of the front cover. Binding tight and text clean. A good copy with original sales receipt also signed by the author laid in at front. 96 pp., black and white photos throughout. An interesting history in letters of one young man's experiences in the American Civil War.

Text is clean and unmarked and the binding is solid. Creasing at the center of the front cover and spineward at the rear cover. 109 pp., bibliography, black and white photos throughout. A history of the occupation of Monte Cristi and the Marines stationed in the Dominican Republic during and following the first world war.

Vermont: Charles E. Tuttle Co.: Publishers, 1966. First edition thus. Hardcover. Very Good/fair. Blue cloth hardcover with gilt lettering, first thus, in dustjacket. A very good copy of the book in silky dark blue cloth. Minimal wear to the board edges, and some small spots of disruption to the gilt. Small dark spot to the front cover near the front edge. Spotting and light soil to the top text-block edge. Inside is clean and unmarked in a solid binding. Map section intact and in very good condition as well. The dustjacket is the problem with the rear panel nearly detached and a tear across the center of the spine panel - a heavy and bright jacket but with significant damage, chips and tears. 332 pp., indexed, black and white photos, beautifully bound.

Indiana: Sweet Pea Press, 2000. Hardcover. Near Fine/very good. Canvas style cloth hardcover in jacket. Signed by Medal of Honor recipients James Allen Taylor and James Elms Swett on their pages, and photographer's signature and inscription to the front free-endpaper, "To: Joe, Discover the Wonderfulness of Ordinary. Thanks for all your help. God Bless! Best Regards, Casalini." A near fine copy - clean and solid with straight edges and corners. Other than the inscriptions, the word "Buzz" to the top of the free-endpaper is the only marking. Unclipped dustjacket is very good with some soiling to the white panels, indentions near the rear joint, and a bit of ruffling to the panel edges. 160 pp., a beautiful collection of full page black and white photos of recipients of the Medal of Honor. This copy does not have the word "Congressional" in the title, perhaps indicating an early edition, although no statement of edition is present.

Oregon: Wildwood Publishing, 1995. Hardcover. Good +/good. Allen R. Howard. Signed by the author without personalization on the front free-endpaper, "Best Wishes & Semper Fidelis Larry Means." A good+ hardcover with general wear to the board edges and spine tips, and bit of loose paper at the top of the front joint. The interior of the book is like new, clean, tight, and unmarked - as if unread. The jacket is only good with fading to the spine panel and chips and creases to the panel edges and folds. 217 pp., filled with black and white illustrations and some photos. A history of the 1st Marine Division and including its legendary Guadalcanal experiences.

New York: Greenwood Publishing Corporation, 1969. Hardcover. Fair/poor. Ex Military Library, gray cloth hardcover 1969 edition in original glassine dustjacket. A fair copy only, with military library stamps,pocket, and markings, including a withdrawn stamp. Hard bumps to the corners and board edges, and sun fading to the board. The spine titles are still bright and attractive. The binding and hinges are solid - a well-bound copy. Pages are clean, other than library stamps. Original glassine dustjacket is in poor condition - much fading to the black titles and scuffing/scratching to the panels. Tape to the bottom of the spine panel from removal of a library call number tag, and tape along the jacket panel edges for reinforcement. Included for completeness rather than quality. 395 pp., indexed, lengthy notes/bibliography. Black and white illustrations and a few color maps. Oversize and overweight - will require additional shipping for international or expedited orders.

Boston: Second Marine Division Association, 1976. First edition. Hardcover. Good. Oversized hardcover lacking dustjacket as issued. General wear at the edges, more pronounced at the spine ends. A clean and unmarked copy of this title. Some wavering at the text block edge, but no mustiness. Front hinge gives at the start and end of the first gathering. All pages firmly bound in. 330 pp., filled with black and white photos of the 2nd Dvision and it's proud history. A great military time piece.

Chicago: The Swallow Press Inc., 1971. Reprint. Hardcover. Very Good. Tan cloth hardcover, lacking jacket. A reproduction of the original 1810 publication. Some full page illustrations and the descriptive text to accompany in a nice oblong quarto format. Very good with a lift to the front edge of the front cover (light warping). Minor spots of soil to the light covers. Interior is clean, tight and unmarked other than the ghost of a previous price to the top of the first blank. 60 pp.

Baltimore: Southern Book Co., 1954. Paperback. Good. Red paper covers with black spine lettering, no additional printings listed. Sticker to the bottom of the title page indicating distribution by the Genealogical Publishing Company. A good copy with general shelfwear to the covers and minor bending at the edges. Spine tips are rubbed. Previous owner's name to the inside of the front cover and check marks and notations throughout the text. Light crease across the first gathering - visible in the picture. 144 pp., a comprehensive list of members of the militia.
