Complete with 18 plates, containing 72 hand coloured illustrations, plate 13 is bound as the frontis, plates 15 and 18 are bound in the wrong sequences. Gift inscription to front free endpaper: 'William Morris Beaufort from his dear godfather Admiral Sir James Morris. K.C.B. 1828'. Morris was in command of HMS Colossus at the Battle of Trafalgar, where he was severely wounded. A nice solid example of this scarce first edition, with interesting provenance.
