Also bound in are two acts (Evans 5237 and 5238) that were passed in 1743. Preceding the compilation are the colony's Charter and a "Table of Acts". Sympathetically rebound in full brown leather, with original leather laid down on front and rear boards. Missing the title page and first 2 pages of the Charter. Boston: Henry W. Dutton & Sons, Printers, 1856. 195 pages. Octavo. Binding is embossed cloth. Frontispiece is a steel engraved portrait of Peabody (foxed and offset onto title page). There are 17 original tinted lithographs, printed by J.H. Buford, for whom the important American artist Winslow Homer worked as an apprentice lithographer. Two of the lithographs are signed (with initials on the stone) by Homer: "Arch at Danversport, and Residence of Hon. R.S. Daniels" (facing page 21) and "Arch at Danversport, near the Baptist Church" (facing page 89). Five additional lithographs in the book are attributed to Homer by David Tatham, who is considered to be the expert on Homer's graphic art. The text includes descriptions of the decorations and parade, speeches, odes, toasts, and press reviews of the event.
