Internals very clean, no markings. John Burroughs was one of the earliest pioneers of the conservationist movement. He published 28 books on the natural world during the height of the Industrial Revolution. By the late 1880s he was one of the world's most popular nature writers. This is when his first collection of nature writings for children was published. The "Short Studies in Conrasts", the "Day by Day" notes, "Gleanings", and the "Sundown Papers", which comprise the latter part of this book, the last posthumous volume by John Burroughs, were written during the closing months of his life. He died at age 84, in 1921.
