About Turtleman Books

A small on-line only bookstore at the present. Future plans to open a physical outlet in a small town in Western Washington sometime down the road. Many of my books are oversized. Rather than ask for shipping adjustments at the time of purchase, the list price for heavier books includes the excess shipping cost. In situations with smaller books, or multiple books, if I can ship for less, I will pass that savings along to the customer. ****Need something to do at home? Interview with Murlin Varner of Turtleman Books

Do you have an open storefront or have you in the past?
Nope, this is something I am planning to have in the future, to sell books and coffee, my favorite two things.
What is your favorite bookshop (other than your own)?
I forget the name. It was a few decades ago (ca. 1987) that I found this store in Lincoln, Nebraska. It had a fairly small sales floor, with a limited supply of books and a big pile of Playboys. I got to talking with the owner, and he took me through the back door into a warehouse of tremendous size, fully stocked with loaded shelves of books. It was glorious. I spent quite a while in that area before emerging with an armload of interesting volumes.
What do you personally like to read? Collect?
I have a list of authors whom I have collected and read over the years. These are books which I am not currently parting with, but rather, I am still adding to the collection. They include Stephen King, Elmore Leonard, Janet Evanovich, J. A. Jance, Tony Hillerman (and his daughter), Terry Brooks, Sue Grafton, Stephen J. Gould, and Carl Hiaasen. I have an almost complete set of The Happy Hollisters by Jerry West, but once I acquire the final mystery, I plan to read the full series in order, and then offer the complete collection for some ridiculous price.
