One thing secretaries of the 1950s were expected to be able to do is make travel arrangements, so photo #5 shows a page that teaches the potential secretary how to read a train timetable. Photo #6 shows a page that teaches how to help the boss with gift shopping for Christmas and other occasions. Of the few copies of this book that I have found on the market, none date back to 1952 (as this one does), with publication dates from 1958 to 1977.

I guess you're on your own for the negative terms (actually, the book talks about this in the foreword). A scarce and highly valued book.

A somewhat irreverent history of the Hudson's Bay Company, commissioned upon their 300th anniversary and originally distributed on that anniversary to all of the modern-day employees of said company. This somewhat comic history is accompanied by Ronald Searle's extravagant and often satirical art work. The clipped dust jacket shows wear at the edges, including a small collection of tears, none over 1.5 cm. The plain paper jacket, decorated with more of Searle's art, is also a bit tanned, especially over the spine. The pages are clean, tight and unmarked, liberally illustrated with black and white drawings. The only color drawings are on the front of the dust jacket and on the title page. The book shows mild wear along the lower edge.
