This is a first edition of the beautiful best-selling cookbook published by the Avoca Cafe in 2000. Avoca started out as an artisinal Dublin shop (the legal name of the company is Avoca Handweavers). Then they started offering breads and biscuits, then opening cafes; now they have about a dozen throughout Ireland. They finally decided to publish a cookbook and it became a runaway best-seller. (They've since published 5 more.)This is a copy of that first book. It has been leafed through but not read and not used for cooking.So there are tiny bits of shelf-wear to the cover and spine, but the inside is pristine.Recipes focus on fresh and healthy.Contents:Soups, Salads, Fish & Chicken, Meat, Vegetable Main Courses, Breads, Tea Time & Dessert, Relishes, Sundries.It's soft cover but heavy; 8 1/4" x 10".194 pages including 120 easy recipes and dozens of gorgeous photos.

This is a first edition copy of Barbecue Secrets, Unbeatable Recipes, Tips and Tricks from a Barbecue Champion. It was written by the Canadian author and international barbecue champion Ron Shewchuk and published in 2004.

Soft cover, illustrated. Includes a section on equipment, cocktails and desserts. And there are all kinds of specific tips.

This is a 7th printing of the first edition of the international best-seller, Betty Crocker's International Cookbook.Betty Crocker is a pseudonym used by General Mills.It is 372 pages of recipes, including the index and numerous color photographs.Recipes are of all types, and from many cultures.It has not been used, but I had to remove the front endpaper because someone wrote on it. And there is a thumb print on the very bottom of the title page.Other than that, the book is pristine.The dust jacket has a little bit of wear, just from years of being moved around, but is in very good condition

This is a near-perfect copy of The Book of Tea: A Japanese Harmony of Art, Culture and the Simple Life, written in 1906 by the Japanese scholar Okakura Kakuzo (1863-1913). It is the earliest English-language account of Zen Buddhism and its relation to the arts. Okakura's view was that "tea is more than an idealization of the form of drinking; it is a religion of the art of life."
It was written in English and is a long essay, broken into chapters. This printing is a replica of the original, in that the heading of each chapter has an illustration with an ink drawing by the Japanese painter Sesshu (1420-1506) and the portrait of Okakura by Kanzan Shimomura (1873-1930).
133 pages on fine paper. 5" x 7 3/4". In slipcase. Includes the original publisher's wrapper.
The slipcase is a little worn. The front endpapers have indentations to the paper. But this book has not been read and is otherwise in perfect condition.

This is an un-read copy of The Canadian Living Entertaining Cookbook written by the Canadian Living Magazine food writers and prominent food writer Carol Ferguson. It was published in 1997 and was a best-seller.
Soft laminated cover, heavily illustrated with very high-quality photographs. It is laid out by occasion, with occasion ideas, cultural menus, and lots of useful tips (see contents photos). Everything is designed to be elegant and easy.

This is a fascinating little book. It is one of the Cassell's Country Cookbooks, published through the 70s and hard to find today. This one is on Scottish food--it was published in 1975. It is a regional social history, from the perspective of food and eating, but there are recipes included throughout the text (see photos).It has never been used, but there are a few marks in it. It was a gift from a Scots woman and that it noted on the front endpaper. Also, the original owner wrote a recipe for Tangy Tomato Aspic on the back endpaper. And the paper is darkening, just from age.Otherwise perfect condition.

This is two books of Slow-Cooker Recipes, written by Jean Pare, the Canadian caterer who is one of the world's best-selling cookbook authors. Her company is called Company's Coming; these are her two books on using slow cookers. The first was published in 2004. 156 pages, including color plates, index, measurement tables. The second, published in 2009, is the same. There does not appear to be any overlap or duplication of recipes.Both are handily ring-bound, 6 1/4" x 9". They've never been used and are in mint condition.

Cooking in Colour is a 671-page cookbook of 700 recipes, and there is a photograph of each finished dish.Recipes are of all types, and from many cultures.The binding feels a little loose, but I think that's so that it will open flat at every page/recipe.It has not been used, but there is a barely-visible scratch on the cover and another on the title page.Other than that, the book is pristine.No dust jacket.

This is an excellent cookbook. But it's not just recipes; it tells the story of Italian Cooking. The editorial goes into great detail and there are loads of color photos, including maps and demos.Hard cover, 208 pages.There are a few marks on the cover. The spine is greatly darkened, just from sitting on a shelf for all of these years.The front endpaper is signed by the original owner and some of the pages have darkened a little.The rest of the inside is perfect. Pristine.

This is a huge, lavishly produced A-to-Z encyclopedia of culinary knowledge packed with approximately 2,000 recipes for appetizers, hors d'oeuvres, soups, main dishes, breads, salads, desserts--anything and everything to do with food.
It was compiled by Jane Solmson and edited by the American chef Charlotte Turgeon (1912 – 2009), who is well-known for translating and editing the first English-language version of the Larousse Gastronomique.
You may see the 1985 edition of this book listed as its first edition—this is its actual first edition (1982). It was published by Weathervane Books and distributed by Crown Publishers by arrangement with Ottenheimer.
This copy is in near-perfect condition. There are small spill marks on the front endpaper (1) and on pages 418 and 419 (minor). Also, a 2" strip of the red surface—just the top layer of paper—has come off the back cover. There are a couple of little shelf marks on the spine.
It's a big beautiful book. 8 ½" x 11" x 2".
