Description:
In this book, two scholars bring us a broad panorama of the art, architecture and sculpture of 17th and 18th centuries, the most dynamic era in the history of art. Julius Held covers Flemish, Dutch and English painting, as well as Italian sculpture, Italian architecture and Northern European architecture. Donald Posner writes about France, Spain and Italy.

Dark red boards with brilliant gold lettering on the spine.
9" x 12", 439 pages, 487 illustrations.
As you can see, the dust jacket has seen better days but it has done its job—the book is in perfect condition, with no marks of any kind in it or on it.

It's heavy: 5 ½ lbs. The purchase price covers the high cost of postage, as long as you're in Canada or the USA. NOTE: The stated fee for shipping outside of the US and Canada is for surface mail, with no tracking. If you'd like air mail and/or tracking, I'll get you the exact price.

Description:
This is an original watercolor by the Canadian architect and artist Hugh Douglas "Bungje" Robertson (1900-1996). Its title is Harbour at Stockholm. It is signed and dated 1972.
Robertson was born in Hamilton ON and attended the School of Architecture at Montreal's McGill University, graduating in 1925. He was formed in drawing by his friend, the French-Canadian artist Edmond Dyonnet but, in painting, was mainly self-taught.
As an architect, he was in partnership with Lester Birley Husband, off and on, until 1953--this was interrupted by periods working as a draftsman and architectural designer in Miami, Montreal, and New York. During World War II, he worked as an Assistant Architect in the Naval Services Branch of the Royal Canadian Navy in Ottawa. In 1957, he retired from architecture to paint full-time. He traveled extensively in Europe and the West Indies painting in oil but, mostly, in watercolor. Robertson was a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Royal Canadian Academy.… Read More

From 1978 to 1981, Time-Life Books published a series called 'The Seafarers'. It was 22 volumes, all written by experts in their fields, on different aspects of maritime history.
All are 175-185 pages, all bound in thick black leatherette, all beautifully illustrated with drawings, paintings and photographs.
Of the 22, I have 11 left (the list is below). All are listed here on Biblio. You can buy one, or as many as you like.
Mine are from the first printing. Unless otherwise noted, all are in mint condition.
This one is 'The Vikings', reviewed as "excellent tales of individual Viking exploits, plus enthralling descriptions of Viking culture."

Description:
This is a first edition of Winter's Tales, the 1942 collection of 11 short stories by Karen Blixen (1885-1962). Blixen wrote under several pen names; here, she uses Isak Dinesen. Blixen is best known for her memoir Out of Africa—it, of course, was made into the famous film starring Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.
As you can see, the dust jacket of this copy has a lot of wear to the edges. The book, however, is in excellent condition—pale orange-red boards with a black and gold design on the cover and spine. 313 pages on coarse paper. There are no marks of any kind in or on it.
From a review of the book:
In Isak Dinesen's universe, the magical enchantment of the fairy tale and the moral resonance of myth coexist with an unflinching grasp of the most obscure human strengths and weaknesses. A despairing author abandons his wife, but in the course of a long night's wandering, he learns love's true value and returns to her, only to find her a different woman than the one he left. A landowner, seeking… Read More
