Together with an upgrade in ammunition and many other modifications, it became the Ultimate Leopard 1. This Model Foto Focus includes colour full-view In-the Field and a large number of walkaround captioned photographs, making for a compelling collection of images. Description:
Trackpad Publishing, 2020. New book, 68 pages, 200 photos. Based on World War 2 experience with different tank destroyers, the newly founded German Bundeswehr (1956) considered these vehicles as indispensable in anti-tank warfare against the Warsaw Pact. However, it took ten years before their Kanonenjagdpanzer entered service. In the early seventies, the Belgian Army needed to improve their anti-tank capabilities. The Army still had a huge amount of 90 mm ammunition due to the replacement of the M47 Patton by the Leopard 1, so the KaJaPa was considered. A new Renk transmission plus suspension, final drive and tracks (all used on the Marder IFV) greatly improved the cross-country manoeuvrability of the JPK90. It also used a version of the Leopard’s Cobelda fire control system, turning it into a highly effective tank hunter. This Model Foto Focus takes a thorough look around this little-documented but interesting machine. For the modeller, this is the ultimate walkaround for an accurate model.… Read More

Description:
Trackpad Publishing, 2018. New book, 80 pages. With the introduction of the Leopard 1BE as the new main battle tank for the Belgian Army in 1968, it was a logical decision that the Bergepanzer 2 would be bought as a replacement for the ageing Sherman-based ARV’s then in service. This was an enormous improvement for the recovery and maintenance teams in the Leopard 1 tank units. After being in service for more then thirty years, eighteen Belgian Bergepanzer 2s were modernised in 2002 by the German company, FFG. Updates included new fuel cells, replacement of the main winch, and the addition of a second smaller 1.5 ton-winch at the front of the vehicle. This Model Foto Focus takes a thorough look around these little-documented but fascinating machines. For the modeller, this is the ultimate walkaround for an accurate model. Somewhat eclipsed by medium and heavy tanks for its secondary role in the European Theatre of Operations during World War II, the Stuart tank was, however, more successful further away in the Pacific Theatre, where it surpassed in efficiency all its Japanese counterparts, albeit later out-performed by the M4 Sherman.
