NEVER CRY WOLF

By Mowat, Farley

New York: Dell - Laurel Editions, 1969. 176 pp. Dell Book 6299. Light edge and corner wear with an uncreased spine and a few small marks on the cover; some aging but no interior markings. Cover art by Jack Endewelt. Exploding the centuries old myths about wolves... When the government sent Farley Mowat north to investigate the mass slaughter of arctic caribou and deer, it was widely believed that the wolves were responsible for the killing. But as Mowat came to learn the way of these misunderstood predators, he came to conclude that it was human hunters, not wolves, who posed the real threat. Never Cry Wolf is Mowat's heartfelt cry for an understanding of the natural world and a brilliant narrative on the myths and stereotypes of wild wolves - a message that was stunning and groundbreaking when it was first published and remains fresh and compelling today... Directed by Carroll Ballard, this was filmed in 1983, starring Charles Martin Smith and Brian Dennehy.. Eighth Printing. Soft Cover. Very Good. Illus. by Jack Endewelt;.

NEVER CRY WOLF

By Mowat, Farley

Toronto: McClelland and Stewart, 1963. 247 pp. This is the double-jacketed version of Never Cry Wolf . Both the first state dustjacket with the comic drawing of the wolf - recalled because there was some objection by Farley Mowat to the presentation of the wolf - and the orange second state dustjacket with the portrait of the author on the front, are present. Both jackets have some edge and corner wear but, unfortunately, at one point they were stuck together and when they were separated, a fragment from the first state jacket stuck to the second state jacket; also, there is a chip from the upper right of the orange jacket; no interior markings. Included is a dropped-in newspaper article from the early 60s by Edgar Andrew Collard called The Wolf at the Door. Directed by Carroll Ballard, this was filmed in 1983, starring Charles Martin Smith and Brian Dennehy. And some wolves.. First Edition. Hardcover. Good Only/Good Only. 8vo.
