New York: The Viking Press, 1929. Book. Fair. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Blue cloth with gilt lettering to the spine and stamping to the front cover. Faded spine and worn edges. Rubbing or scuffing wear to the front cover. Small oval stain on the blank pages preceding the rear endpapers. The lower corner of the title page is torn away. 221 pages with Appendix (The Italia's Doom). Illustrated with black and white photos (all taken by the author with a few exceptions), including a frontispiece photo of the author, Einar Lundborg, Captain in the Swedish Air Force. Laid in is a promotional photograph of Lundborg with a typed piece of paper adhered to the bottom of the photo announcing the publication of his book and lecture-tour in America. The book is Lundborg's account of rescuing General Umberto Nobile and his crew of the Italian dirigible Italia after it crashed on an ice floe while returning from a polar flight of Arctic exploration.
