The "most detailed and exhaustive treatment of English cookery books" - Bitting. Oxford provides careful descriptions and, in many cases, substantial annotations. He notes in his introduction that his own interest is principally in the combination of cookery with medicine, which is found in many of the earlier books. A PRESENTATION COPY with a 1-page letter signed by the author presenting the book to a Mr Power (or perhaps Parr) tipped in. Contents a little marked and slightly worn at extremities, contents age-toned at margins, otherwise Good.
