Volume 1 lists as comprehensively as possible books and articles on all aspects of the history of the British Isles for the period from the coming of the Saxons circa 450 AD to 1087 AD, but excluding material dealing with literature and linguistics. Coverage includes general sources, political, social and economic history, constitutional history and law, local history, ecclesiastical history and religion, geography and place-names, general culture, archaeology (including records of "finds"), numismatics and seals, epigraphy, art, etc. Volume 2 contains author/subject & topographical indexes. An ex-library set with bookplates on the front pastedown endpapers, small stamps on the versos of the title-pages, otherwise near Very Good.
