Description:
Wheldon & Wesley Ltd, Codicote, 1986 reprint of 1917 first edition. Cloth, 8vo,. xx, 691 pp. Approximately 5,000 entries. This superb bibliography is the definitive reference for pre-20th century books on British birds, and their authors. It contains fascinating brief biographies of all significant authors who have written on British ornithology, with careful bibliographic descriptions of their works. No less an authority than John Todd Zimmer commented in his catalogue of the Edward E. Ayer Ornithological Library that Mullens & Swann's work was "An exceedingly useful and important work containing an enormous amount of information". Fine.
